In partnership with Canada Revenue Agency, the Community Volunteer Income Tax Clinic will operate from March 1 to April 30, 2024. Registration opens on March 1, 2024.
What is CVITP? The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) has existed since 1971. It is a partnership between the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), community organizations and community volunteers. The Tax clinic is free and is supported by community volunteers to ensure individuals receive, or continue to receive, their entitled benefit payments.
Why do we need CVITP? Individuals need to do their taxes every year to qualify for many federal, provincial, and municipal programs and services. This is a difficult and sometimes overwhelming task for community members in need. Community volunteers can help to make this process easier.
What is the Process:
- Confirm eligibility.
- Register (online, by phone, in person options available).
- A volunteer will phone you at home to gather needed information. NO NEED to submit any actual documentation.
- A volunteer will complete taxes and submit them to CRA.
- A copy of your Tax Summary and CRA acceptance confirmation will be mailed to you.
